That means it was made post-WWII but before the the “new” Suzuki guitars began being made by the current Suzuki conglomerate. According to the information I can find, it seems that this model (#36) was Suzuki's top-of-the-line classical guitar during the 1970’s. https://suprelistu.tistory.com/4.

* The custom second sound port enhances the playing experience without reducing the overall volume of the guitar. For most classical (acoustic) guitars the player doesn’t hear how the guitar really sounds “out front”. But with a second sound port, the artist gets to appreciate both the dynamics and the subtleties of his playing as heard by the audience. Or, to put it another way, with this second port the guitar sounds 30% louder to the person playing it.
Sound: This guitar has a full, mellow voice (in the treble, middle, bass registers) with surprising clarity in the bass register. This is partly because the top is solid cedar, and partly because the wood is old enough to have matured and “opened up”.
If you look at photo #4, you’ll see that this guitar was made by the Suzuki Violin Company in Nagoya, Japan. That means it was made post-WWII but before the the “new” Suzuki guitars began being made by the current Suzuki conglomerate.
According to the information I can find, it seems that this model (#36) was Suzuki's top-of-the-line classical guitar during the 1970’s.
Finish:
** This guitar has been hand-sanded (by me) .. not machine-sanded .. so that almost all of the original finish has been removed. Then I coated the “raw” wood with linseed oil for protection and to bring out the natural beauty of the woods. (Please see photos.)
By removing the old finish (heavy varnish) now the wood can vibrate more freely and produce a sweeter and more crisp sound. In addition, the rich colors of the woods (top, sides, and back) are more visible and vibrant. Plus, if you look at photo #5 you’ll see how very tight-grained is the cedar top. (That's a good thing.)
With the new custom finish, this woods of this guitar is even more beautiful than when I first acquired it.
BTW, I recommend, twice a year, applying a • very light • coat of (boiled) linseed oil with a clean, cotton cloth. Allow it dry overnight and then remove any excess oil and buff with another clean, cotton cloth. A good time to do this is when changing the strings. This will protect and strengthen the wood, thus keeping the guitar in excellent condition for decades to come. (This is what I do with all my hand-finished guitars.)
Condition: Superlative .. considering its age
Action on frets feels perfect (no buzzing or chattering)
Please see photos for actual condition
The top does have a “sunrise” bruise and an adjoining chip where the previous owner must have bumped the guitar against something. However, the bruise is completely smooth to the touch and the chip appears to be superficial. The marks are on the surface; no vibrations nor rattling one would hear if there were structural problems.
Shipping, et Cetera: The guitar will ship well-packed and with strings loosened.
The strings are brand new D’Addario Pro Arte EJ-45 (normal tension .. recommended)
FREE Shipping applies only to lower 48 United States
Thanks for looking .. and happy playing.
